Heartbroken...

My beloved Sally died in my arms yesterday evening. She had grown old and had not been well for the last week. I miss her...She is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge.
My Sweet, Sweet Sally ~ August 20, 1996 - February 22, 2009Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I am so so sorry. My heart goes out to you. I know how much love we feel for our furbabies...and losing one is the hardest thing! But it's easier knowing they lived a long and happy life. And I'm so glad you were able to be there holding your little lovepup at the end.

So sorry to hear about your pet! It is so hard to lose a member of the family - and that's what they become. Be strong.

OH NO!!! I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Rest assured that Sally is waiting for you and until then she is happy and frolicking with the others...perhaps with my sweet Bailey who I lost in December. I'd like to think so.
My heart aches for you. Here is my shoulder to cry on and my arms to give you a great big hug.
I have to say I'm happy to know that sweet Sally had you with her...I can't help but feel she knew how loved she was and I'll bet she was one happy furbaby.

Oh I am so so sorry, how heartbreaking. We grieve for our pets the same as we would grieve for a family member, as they are family members. Take care

So sorry to read about your loss, Sally must have had a wonderful life living in such a loving household.

I found your blog through Miss Kris, I was reading about her Bulldog, we also have a Bulldog, only difference is he's an Aussie Bulldog, if you visit my blog you can see him on the left hand side bar.

Thankfully you nursed your Punkie back to health, she sounds like a darling, it must go with the breed as our Guss is too!

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. It's so incredibly hard to lose a pet - they become our family and fill our lives with such joy. I understand how upsetting this time is for you and I wish you all the very best.

Oh, I am so sorry! I have been there so many times and it never gets easier, but we can take solace in the fact that we gave these furry little angels a good life with us while they were here!!!

I am so sorry about the loss of your beloved pet. I hope this isn't inappropriate in the same post, but I am just in love with your cottage! I somehow missed your recent posts of your darling kitchen and I am so smitten. What a wonderful place you have to call home. I hope you share more of your home with us soon. Again, my sincerest sympathy for your loss.
